Scotch Malt Whisky Society

Whisky heaven

Scotch Malt Whisky Society is global whisky society with venues around the world, they buy casks from distilleries around the world but mainly from Scotland to bottle their own whisky. All their whisky has to be single malt, single cask and cask strength to ensure the full flavours of the liquid.
Islay whisky tasting

The London venue host numbers of tasting events through the years and has one the biggest collection of single malt whisky in the UK, I went to one of their special Islay Whisky tasting event, host by whisky songwriter Robin Laing and turned out to be a fantastic evening.

We kicked off with a special bottle of Bruichladdich whisky which age in port cask, specially bottled for Robin Laing from the distillery. I am a sucker for whisky ageing in port cask and Bruichladdich is one of my favourite Islay whisky so I was in love with it, it was sweet with great fruity aroma on the palate and just a hint of spices on the finish. Light and easy going, my kind of whisky. This was followed by 5 society's bottling from distilleries such as Bowmore and Laphroaig with a nice meal in between.

Whisky lovers

Robin played a few set of different Whisky songs through the evening and everyone started singing alone toward the end (The magic of Whisky!). The atmosphere was absolutely lovely. Also the excellent society ambassador John looked after us well and on hand of everything, I couldn't fault the evening apart from knowing I will have a tough time tomorrow!
John & Sam the legends

Scotch Malt Whisky Society is a place for whisky lovers, plus the staffs are friendly and very knowledgeable. This is truly a whisky heaven, but as all the whisky are cask strength so please drink with care, or hell await the next day....
