10 Greek Street

A tastebud delight

10 Greek Street is a no booking restaurant in the Soho district serving modern European cuisine, it has been regarded as one of the hottest restaurants in Soho and I was keen to find out why. As it is a no booking restaurant, I went on a Monday night to see if I could get hold of a table without much waiting, and luckily I managed to!

You would walk past the place without knowing it as it looks just like a simple modern canteen, very simple décor with an open kitchen at the back. 10 Greek Street has a daily changing menu depending what ingredients are in season. We ordered langoustines and Ox tongue for starters to share, The langoustines dish was an absolute beauty, the meat was really fresh, sweet and clean, The head had no bitterness and it was rich with nice depth of shellfish flavours. Four top notch langoustunes for only £9, what a bargain! The Ox tongue with the gribiche was also a solid dish, the sliced Ox tongue was excellent, lovely texture on the tongue with the gribche and rocket gave it a nice spicy kick and coolness.

For main I had the poussin, beautiful cooked chicken, the meat was so tender and soft, well seasoned with layers of bold and rich Mediterranean flavours. The Meborlotti beans and baby courgettes soaked up the lovely chicken jus nicely and delivered a nice touch of softness and sweetness to the dish. The other main, spring lamb was such a Mediterranean delight, the meat was very rich and and packed with wonderful aroma and flavours form the caponata, lovely chopped summer vegetable of eggplant and tomato with the bobby beans gave the dish a touch of crunchiness and sweetness. Both dishes were of great quality and it wouldn't look out of place on a lunch menu in a Michelin restaurant.

I was really impressed with the whole dining experience,10 Greek Street delivered simple but flavoursome dishes using fresh ingredients. The service was also excellent, very knowledgeable and got the timing perfectly when delivering the dishes. Even as a no booking restaurant, diners wont be rushed and can just sit back and enjoy the wonderful food 10 Greek Street has on offer. Forget about the queuing, it is well worth the wait.
